IBS presents Bertrams|THE with supply chain initiative of the year prize at Bookseller retail awardsNews & Events 2008-09-22 In an exciting and entertaining night for the business end of the publishing industry, IBS was very proud to present Bertrams|THE with the prize for Best Supply Chain Initiative of the Year at the Bookseller Retail Awards. The event, held at the National History Museum, has become a major showpiece for the publishing industry, recognizing the valuable work carried out by retailers and distributors. For the first time, IBS has become a key sponsor for the event and Vice President of Sales for Europe, Simon Shorthose, announced the winner of Supply Chain Initiative of the Year to a packed auditorium. “According to the judging panel, the complete integration of the Bertrams and THE wholesale businesses between September and November 2007 was ‘brilliantly executed in a very short space of time’”, he said. The award was collected by Michael Neil, Managing Director of Bertrams|THE, who thanked everyone involved in the project. Also shortlisted for this award were The Book Depository and HarperCollins Supply Chain. “With three excellent supply chain initiatives on the shortlist to discuss, the judges had their work cut out in this category. The ground-breaking efforts by Bertrams|THE, The Book Depository and HarperCollins are encouraging for a trade rarely celebrated for its supply chain innovation. IBS is very pleased to have been welcomed as a main sponsor of The Retail Awards and believe the contribution we are making to the profile and importance of supply chain initiatives will have a positive effect throughout the publishing industry”, concluded Shorthose.
