Italian pharmaceutical distributor AFM improves supply chain efficiency with IBS

AFM, part of the Celesio Group, has decided to install IBS Pharma, a specialised software solution for pharmaceutical distribution. The new solution will enable AFM to enhance customer service, meet future industry requirements and improve overall supply chain efficiency.

IBS, International Business Systems (XSSE: IBS B) has signed an agreement with AFM Bologna S.p.A, an Italian pharmaceutical distributor, regarding implementation of IBS Pharma. AFM is the Italian wholesale subsidiary of Celesio AG, the European market leader in pharmaceutical distribution. It serves more than 700 pharmacies, hospitals and private care homes in the regions of Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Lombardy and Veneto. Furthermore it manages the stock of a number of public hospitals in Emilia Romagna and Veneto. Overall AFM has a turnover of more than 200 million euros.

IBS Pharma will allow AFM to increase its logistics and distribution, customer services and sales and marketing processes. AFM will also utilise IBS Integrator for program-to-program integration. The project is already underway and the new IT solution is planned to go live in May 2006.
