Brands Batterij Import plans logistics with IBS´ softwareNews & Events 2003-06-23 Brands Batterij Import B.V., importers and distributors of batteries and exclusive representative of GP Batteries in the Benelux for over 25 years, has chosen IBS´ ASW supply chain management software for their financials, distribution and inventory control needs. GP Batteries, listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of batteries. Roel Brands, managing director of Brands Batterij Import, is pleased with the replacement of Brands’ legacy logistics application with ASW. “Our core business is trading, so our products have to be moved from A to B. 85% of our goods originate in the Far East and our most important challenge is to therefore turn the lead time between the region and the Benelux into a competitive advantage. This requires precise logistical planning, with four-month demand projections. This is only possible with the help of a powerful supply chain management software solution, with which we will be able to track the lead time and inform our customers of their orders’ status in the most efficient way. ASW will be used for this process.”
Brands found the choice for IBS to be a clear and obvious one: “The Swedish and Spanish sales offices already work with ASW and are very pleased with this software solution. We therefore visited these offices to explore the potentials and capabilities that ASW could offer our own organisation. At the time, we were in the advanced stages of purchase negotiations for a logistics software system from Navision. However, we changed our minds and chose instead to install ASW at our Dutch office and sales office in Belgium. This was since ASW was able to address our needs in terms of the extensive functionality we require and our demands for thorough business intelligence. Moreover, ASW gives us vital integration possibilities. With an eye on the near future, ASW will also offer the option to easily create integrated links with our European office and GP Batteries’ central warehouse in France. These are, however, only a few of its many advantages.”
The implementation of ASW at Brands Batterij Import will be completed by January 2004, “IBS is a pleasant and relaxed organisation, with a friendlier and calmer attitude than most other suppliers. If we need anything, they simply take care of the matter without being pushy. I very much like the way they conduct business”, says Brands.
Marc van der Loo, Director Logistic Solutions at IBS in The Netherlands, comments on the contract: “Brands Batterij Import is a family-owned business with a clear focus on the future. The company is laying the foundations for strong growth, with ASW at the core of its optimistic outlook. This wholesale company has streamlined and enhanced its main business processes with ASW, enabling them to even better serve their clients.”
