A history of innovation and focus on the customer.
After being acquired by Symphony Technology Group in June of 2011, IBS has embraced a new “go to market” vitality that is more than ever focused on customer relationships, product innovation and partner support. The global clout and financial wherewithal that Symphony brings to the organization is fueling IBS’s ability to seize new market opportunities and pursue its continued strategy for long-term growth and profitability. Now in its 34th year, IBS remains the world leader in distribution resource management with offices and partners in over 40 locations and more than 4,000 implementations worldwide, including work for clients such as Galexis, Sigma, Rexel, Maxell, GE Lighting, Marangoni, WorldPac, MacFarlane Group, Scholastic Editions, Fidelitone, Totes Isotoner, Volvo, Goodyear, Skil, Oriola, Inotech and many more.
International Business Systems, IBS, was founded in 1978, when Staffan Ahlberg and Gunnar Rylander decided to turn the IT division of Ekonomisk Företagsledning into an independent company. The company’s first major success was a global assignment to develop an order processing system for all of Alfa Laval’s international subsidiaries. This type of close, long-term partnership set the company on a course of exceptional cooperation with customers, which is the backbone of the current strategy for long-term growth.
The company joined the Stockholm Stock exchange in 1986 and around that time established a formalized partnership with IBM. IBS became one of the leading suppliers of software for the IBM AS/400 (now IBM i). In 2001, IBS set a new record by achieving the highest transaction volumes ever recorded in IBM’s testing lab in Rochester, New York for the AS/400.
During the second half of 2010, IBS launched an extensive program to improve efficiency and achieve long-range profitable growth. The renewed organization, an extensive cost-reduction program and the recent acquisition by Symphony, have set IBS on an upward trend.
