IBS announces global commitment and new VP for paper industry

News & Events 2007-07-09

In line with its strategy to focus on specific global industries, IBS has appointed Simon Shorthose to the position of Vice President of Paper Industry. Simon has worldwide responsibility for developing IBS presence in this industry, creating knowledge around IBS’ products, consultancy and services, increasing revenues within the sector and developing strategic relationships with national and international associations and business partners.

Key to the role will be working closely with major international companies within the Paper Merchant industry, such as MAP Merchant Group and Paperlinx. “We have jointly developed our Paper Vertical application to meet the very specific requirements of paper merchants,” says Simon Shorthose, adding, “This allows us to deliver the industry’s only dedicated, global ERP system, backed up by a common development program and support strategy. This ensures our customers receive a highly functional, paper-specific system with a long term product roadmap, at a low cost of ownership.”

IBS is working with international organizations as well as local operations, delivering the same high level of product functionality and support services. “IBS has subsidiaries in 22 countries and business partners in many other countries and this allows us to deliver focused, localized implementations as well as complex global roll-outs, managed from a central hub. We have already proven our capability to deliver a paper-specific solution to multiple international sites and are looking forward to continuing with this strategy as we aim to consolidate our position as a market leader in this sector,” he says.

Simon Shorthose will also be responsible for managing IBS strategy within the packaging and office supplies sectors. “We have excellent customers in these sectors around the world, including Macfarlane Packaging, Victory Packaging and Corporate Express. Again, we offer dedicated industry-specific product functionality and consultancy in multiple locations across Europe and the world. IBS’ strategy to focus on a small number of important verticals allows us to deploy our resources into strategic areas and ensure we develop solutions that are greatest relevance and value to our customers,” he concludes.
