Honda, which produces and sells automobiles and spare parts to retailers, is encountering an ever-greater demand in the market. During 2005, the company sold about 16,000 vehicles in the region; within the coming years, its goal is to sell 35,000 autos each year. Part of the strategy for reaching this target is to increase efficiencies in various processes within the organization. For Honda, the upgrade to IBS Enterprise software means more efficient financial management, which supports the firm’s ambition to strengthen its competitive edge.
“The main reason we have chosen to remain in the IBS family is because their solution is cost-effective,” says Magnus Östmark, CFO at Honda Nordic AB. “The sales of our vehicles are increasing steadily and our goal is to sell 35,000 cars annually within the next few years. This will result in high demands on, among other things, our organization’s efficiency —requirements that IBS ERP software can help us fulfill.”
Honda has about 70 employees at its Malmö site, serving markets in the Nordic and Baltic regions. The unit is a so-called ‘shared service unit’ which manages administration, marketing, warranties, logistics and finances for the region. IBS Enterprise is one of the solutions that has been purchased from outside, while the majority of the system is handled by Honda’s own production software. Honda has operated the IBS financial software since 1997. Work on upgrading the financial software to IBS Enterprise 6.0 was scheduled to be complete in April 2007.
