News & Events 2005-07-11

IBS has signed a six country agreement with Pearson Education Asia. It covers the installation and support of the IBS Bookmaster publishing ERP to service Pearson’s operations in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia. The agreement comprises software, professional services, hardware and support totalling approximately USD 2 million.

Pearson Education, the global leader in educational publishing with brands such as Pearson Prentice Hall, Pearson Longman, Pearson Learning Group and Pearson Addison-Wesley, educates more than 100 million people worldwide. Pearson Education is part of Pearson (NYSE: PSO), the international media company. Pearson's businesses also include the Financial Times Group and the Penguin Group.

Pearson Education already uses Bookmaster in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and India. Penguin Group, the trade division of Pearson, also uses Bookmaster in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. In addition, Pearson Education uses Bookmaster in its South African joint venture, Maskew Miller Longman.

“Pearson Education is a very highly valued international customer and this agreement takes our already close relationship to a new level,” said Staffan Wensing, MD of IBS Australia - the IBS Centre of Excellence for Publishing. “Pearson is a very good company to work with and we are delighted that they have shown their trust in IBS and Bookmaster through this further expansion of our partnership.”

The key benefits anticipated from the IBS Bookmaster implementation include:

  • Cost savings and efficiencies from implementing a single, highly integrated solution for all of Pearson’s distribution and publishing requirements. These include Editorial & Book Production, Royalties, Order Processing & Billing, Warehouse & Inventory Management, Returns Management, Distribution Requirements Planning, Financials and Business Intelligence.
  • Smooth transition to the publishing industry’s new 13-digit ISBN.
  • One integrated solution and set of business processes throughout Asia and Australia
