TMS to intensify push into the UK marketNews & Events 2003-10-21 TMS markets directly to UK publishing industry with the opening of a new office. October 2003: TMS Tailor Made Systems held a special function at Australia House in London to celebrate the opening of its new UK office.
“We see the UK as the most important publishing market in the world. Our decision to open this office reflects our increased commitment to our existing customers in the UK and to expanding our presence there,” said Steve Hall, TMS International Sales & Marketing Manager. “We believe that many publishers in the UK are looking for a viable, alternative publishing-specific solution and we strongly believe that Bookmaster provides that alternative. Now that Bookmaster is marketed and supported directly by TMS (UK), we believe this will give UK publishers the confidence they need to commit to Bookmaster as their key strategic solution”, Mr Hall added.
Unlike other current solutions that are available to UK publishers, Bookmaster offers a standard publishing specific solution that requires very few modifications to meet publishers’ and book distributors’ requirements. This means that the cost of implementation, maintenance and upgrading is significantly lower for Bookmaster than for packages that have been highly customised for individual publishers.
In addition Bookmaster provides an integrated solution for virtually all aspects of a publisher’s business, including warehouse management, business intelligence, e-Commerce, royalties, book production and subscription management as well as the normal distribution and financial areas. This is the key reason why Bookmaster is the dominant publishing solution in the Southern Hemisphere and is used by more than 80 publishing customers in 16 countries. Customers include Pearson, Macmillan, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, LexisNexis, Thomson Learning, McGraw-Hill and Elsevier – many of which use Bookmaster in several countries.
The launch was attended by executives of leading publishers, Bookmaster customers and TMS representatives from Australia, the United Kingdom, United States, Netherlands, Singapore and South Africa, including TMS’ CEO, Mr Jim Abad.
