Las Vegas, September 2002: The city that never sleeps was the location for the 2003 Bookmaster User Group Meeting between the 25-26 of September. Bookmaster customers, agents and key Australian head office executives were in attendance. A variety of topics submitted by Bookmaster Users were discussed such as Royalties, Business Intelligence, WEB services, Infoprint and ONIX. TMS also announced planned Bookmaster modules and enhancements such as:

  • New Commissions module
  • New B2C functionality in the e-Commerce system
  • EDI
  • Websphere
  • Bookmaster 7.2 features
A new addition to Bookmaster, the third-party (3 PL) logistics module which has been designed for publishers and distributors who engage in third-party distribution, was also featured.

Barbour Books has already successfully implemented another Bookmaster enhancement in its new state-of-the-art distribution centre in Ohio. This is the newly developed Cubing routine within the Warehouse Management System and it too was covered at the meeting.

TMS also detailed its position on the proposed new 13-digit ISBN standard as well as its commitment to the ONIX standard.

The second day of the User Group Meeting concluded with a presentation by Jim Abad, TMS’ CEO, on the future direction of Bookmaster. “The 2003 Bookmaster North America User Group Meeting is an opportunity for us to keep the lines of communication flowing with our customers, firstly by providing a platform for them to present their issues and future needs and secondly by showcasing new Bookmaster developments,” Mr Abad said.

“TMS is committed to working closely with its customers so that Bookmaster continues to evolve as an automated business solution. This will ensure that developments stay abreast of changing publishing requirements today, and well into the future”.
