IBS signs a new deal with automotive company in South America

News & Events 2003-09-03

IBS has signed a deal with South American automotive group Chaid Neme Hermanos with an initial order value of USD 1m, mainly consisting of services.

Chaid Neme Hermanos is a manufacturer of auto parts for the assembly and after-markets, and has been the sole Colombian importer and distribution agent of Volvo vehicles since 1953. The group is the leading player in its sector in Colombia and is very well positioned throughout the South American region. The company also operates in North America and Asia.

The solution provided by IBS covers 18 installations in Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia. Each implementation corresponds to an independent company that is either fully or partially owned by Chaid Neme Hermanos. The group has undergone geographic expansion and diversified operations that now cover several separate industries ranging from auto-parts manufacture to plastic and rubber products. Chaid Neme Hermanos also has a prominent position in the marketing of machinery, equipment and vehicles for transportation, construction, earth moving and mining, including after-sales service and support. The IBS system will play an important part in consolidating the group’s present operations as well as facilitating further growth in the forthcoming years.

The solution will essentially transform the group of companies into a corporation with supply chain management and financials being centralised through the use of IBS’ software, ASW. In addition to this, the group will harness the advantages offered by ASW’s capabilities in the areas of consolidation, data maintenance and business information warehousing. The company will be armed with the ability to drill down, up and across and view consolidated and detailed information throughout the corporation with the aid of business intelligence routines. Better synergy will be gained for almost every process of their business operations.

Chaid Neme Hermanos has used an earlier release of ASW for more than 6 years and the capabilities and reliability of this system was an important factor in their decision to implement a newer and more far-reaching solution from IBS.

“The overall strength of IBS combined with the high competence and attention shown by the IBS top management and staff were key factors in the decision to invest,” says Nayib Neme, CEO of the Chaid Neme Hermanos group.

“The automotive after-market is one of the sectors in which we offer tailored solutions to cater to specific needs. Chaid Neme Hermanos has been a client since 1996, and we are very enthusiastic about implementing a new solution that will empower the group with increased efficiency and control,” says Marta Cecilia Pardo, MD of IBS Colombia.

Implementation began in mid-2003 and will be completed by the end of 2004.
